The Man Behind the Bar
Davide Piantedosi was born in Naples, Italy, into a family with decades of tradition in hospitality. From the age of 16, he learnt the art of flair bartending from the finest Italian masters — that spectacular discipline where cocktails are prepared with juggling, acrobatics and showmanship that leaves audiences speechless.

His talent took him far. He competed on the world's most prestigious stages, reaching 5th place at the World Flair Bartending Championship in Panama — an achievement that only a handful of European bartenders have ever reached. Bottles spinning in the air, cocktails crafted at lightning speed, a crowd holding its breath: that is Davide's world.
For more than a decade he led F&B operations for one of Italy's most important hospitality groups, managing venues across Milan, Rome and the Amalfi Coast. He was successful. Recognised. But something was missing: real connection with people, the warmth of a place he could truly call his own.
In 2024, on a holiday in Lanzarote, Davide walked into The Upper Deck for the first time. He saw the Atlantic from the bar, felt the trade winds and knew in that moment this was his place. Six months later, he signed the purchase. Since January 2025, The Upper Deck is a different place. The cocktails now carry the signature of a world-class bartender. The beer list has grown to over 90 references. And the energy — that atmosphere where strangers become friends — is exactly what Davide dreamed of when he crossed the Mediterranean.
